Maywood is a compact Bergen County borough, a little over 10,000 people on 1.29 square miles, and it grew up around a railroad. The New York, Susquehanna and Western line still runs through the middle of it, and the 1872 depot survives as the Maywood Station Museum at 269 Maywood Avenue, on the National Register of Historic Places since 2003.
